Initiative and Its Relationship to the Enjoyment of Learning Among University Students

Abstract

The research aimed to identify the initiative and the enjoyment of learning among the students of Al-Mustansiriya University, according to the following objectives:

  1. Initiative among university students.
  2. The enjoyment of learning among university students.
  3. Identifying the correlation between initiative and the enjoyment of learning among university students, according to the variables of gender and specialization.

In order to achieve the objectives of the research, the initiative scale was built according to Goldberg's theory (1983), and the Pekrun, et, al (2005) enjoyment learning scale was adopted to measure the enjoyment of learning. 400) male and female students from Al-Mustansiriya University were selected using the random stratified method with a proportional distribution, and after collecting and processing the data statistically, the research reached the following results:

  • v University students have a medium degree of initiative.
  • v University students enjoy learning to a limited degree.
  • v There is a positive correlation between initiative and enjoyment of learning among university students

Based on these results, a set of recommendations and proposals were presented.
