Implementation of Disaster Risk Reduction and Management, Climate Change Adaptation and Education in Emergencies of Public Schools in Region VIII

The study assessed the implementation of Disaster Risk Reduction and Management, Climate Change Adaptation, and Education in Emergencies of Public Schools in Region VIII. The study determined the profile of the elementary and junior secondary school heads and teachers in terms of field of specialization, seminar and in-service trainings and attitude towards Disaster Risk Reduction and Management, Climate Change Adaptation, and Education in Emergencies, their level of implementation of Disaster Risk Reduction and Management, Climate Change Adaptation, and Education in Emergencies and the differences in their perception and relationship between their level of implementation and their profile.
The descriptive-correlation method was employed in the study. The findings of the study revealed that most respondents did not receive any training on Disaster Risk Reduction and Management, Climate Change Adaptation, and Education in Emergencies but have a positive attitude towards the program and perceived it as implemented. Results revealed that there was no significant difference on the ratings between respondents on the extent of implementation of Disaster Risk Reduction and Management, Climate Change Adaptation, and Education in Emergencies. The field of specialization of respondents did not affect their level of implementation of Disaster Risk Reduction and Management, Climate Change Adaptation, and Education in Emergencies.
It is highly recommended that the Department of Education Region VIII to adapt the intervention program proposed in the study in order to improve the level of implementation of Disaster Risk Reduction and Management, Climate Change Adaptation, and Education in Emergencies in all schools in the region.
