Abstract

This article is based on the importance of authentic materials on teaching vocabulary to beginners during the lesson. Vocabulary is a fundamental aspect of learning English. Without adequate vocabulary, learners find it difficult to communicate, express ideas or opinions, comprehend simple text, and listen to instruction. Authentic materials refer to pictures, photographs, video selection, and radio. Using authentic materials during the lesson can give several opportunities to achieve success on learning foreign language. Today, authentic materials are essential sources of information to enhance learner’s interest and motivation if they are used in appropriate way in classes. Basic information and actual facts which are used in this article will be efficient for the teachers and students who use authentic materials to improve their vocabulary skill in the lesson.
